Ken Ting

This is kenting. The “beach jewel” of taiwan. It is only after 2 1/2 week of stuck right in camp the first place we ever went out to. Lots of things. Lots of people (fair share, its a weekday). Its a surfer paradise. Wonderful beach and of coz there is a night market there. Lots of food there is the ever famous Smelly beancurd

Well i think most people already know of what i’m talking about. It really stink! If i can describe the smell. I would say it smell as bad as the male toilet with pee all over the floor. This unique smell can be smelt 10 meters away from you and you will know someone iss selling smelly beancurd. For me its my first time there and away from home for the first time since poly days. I GOT TO TRY IT !

Its smelly, I couldn’t agree more. BUT it’s not that bad it’s actually pretty nice. Just that the after the food it stink your mouth for hours! So people, if u are preparing to eat it, Get yourself some mint, it kills the smell trust me.
Good bye everyone! See ya all on the 27th!
Well i can remember the first time i went frontrow to buy my first pair of raw jeans, A.P.C and the sales person tell me something about raw jeans. “Is this your first pair or raw jeans? Try it! it’s really exciting! ” Well I wondered for a while and thought, “How exciting can a pair of jeans make me?”
Nigel or any other people who got disgusted over my raw jeans this thread is for you. Some General knowledge about DENIM.
Just a few General knowledge about Denim
What is Denim
Denim is a rugged cotton twill textile, in which the weft passes under two (twi- “double”) or more warp fibers. This produces the familiar diagonal ribbing identifiable on the reverse of the fabric, which distinguishes denim from cotton duck. Denim has been in American usage since the late eighteenth century.
What is RAW DENIM
Dry or raw denim, as opposed to washed denim, is a denim fabric that is not washed after being dyed during its production. Over time, denim will generally fade, which is often considered desirable.
Most denim is washed after being crafted into an article of clothing in order to make it softer and to eliminate any shrinkage which could cause an item to not fit after the owner washes it. In addition to being washed, non-dry denim is sometimes artificially “distressed” to achieve a worn-in look.
Much of the appeal of dry denim lies in the fact that with time the fabric will fade in a manner similar to factory distressed denim. With dry denim, however, such fading is affected by the body of the person who wears the jeans and the activities of their daily life. This creates what many enthusiasts feel to be a more natural, unique look than pre-distressed denim.
To facilitate the natural distressing process, some wearers of dry denim will often abstain from washing their jeans for more than six months,[3] though it is not a necessity for fading. Often, enthusiasts will just hang their unwashed denim to help get rid of the smell.

And if all this is going to spark your interest in denim den good for you! if you are bored about all this long winded article then i’m going to further bored educate enlighten you.

Some extract.
What about the washing?
There is another important question, one most people ask when I tell them I’m up to this challenge:
In six months, will there be a discernible difference between a pair of raw jeans that were washed immediately and a pair of raw jeans that were not?
Denimheads say absolutely —
that coveted indigo will chip away when washed, essentially dulling the color contrast that adds character to each pair.
“It’ll just look like a navy, boring, dad-kind-of-a-jean,” said Tammy Wong, North American brand manager for the Swedish designer Nudie.
Nobody wants that.
…
‘Fabric is more rugged’
“It’s funny how some people are so grossed out about not washing their jeans,” said DressCodes co-owner Karen Mascavage in an e-mail. Mascavage sold me the jeans at her Decatur boutique. “I have received some of the most hilarious looks from people when I tell them not to wash the raw jeans for six months.”
…
“The thing I like about raw jeans is they sort of represent how jeans were originally meant to be,” said Philip Teske, 49, of Midtown. “I like the fact the fabric is more rugged.”
…
Even folks who don’t live and breathe denim understand the satisfaction of a perfect fitting, worn-in pair of jeans. We treat jeans differently and with a little more love than, say, slacks. Jeans are personal, in the same family as a beloved T-shirt or a perfectly molded ball cap —
items that tend to look better with age.
…
A blank canvas
By not washing the jeans for months, raw jeans enthusiasts say you’re not just helping them take the form of your body, you’re forming them to your habits. The basic idea is the denim serves as a blank canvas and the wearer plays an active role in the way the jeans eventually look.
Earnest Sewn president and founder Scott Morrison, who describes himself as a “never-wash-his-jeans-type-of-guy,” said “in six months of aggressive wearing … you’ll see interesting marks starting to form.” This can be from wallets, keys, tobacco tins, stains or smudges.
Mascavage knew someone who purposefully customized a pair of jeans by putting a calculator in the pocket so the keypad’s subtle indentations would be visible.
And then there’s this from Nudie’s small hardcover book “The Naked Truth About Denim”: “Jeans are all about passion and deep relationship. … Your everyday life gives the denim its unique character, formed by you into a second skin —
personal and naked.”
So here you are some GENERAL KNOWLEDGE ABOUT DENIM. I don’t know but maybe people never know that there is actually something call RAW DENIM. Well I did own a pair of raw A.P.C newstandards jeans. They are raw. and people just teases about me not washing my jeans for 6 months. Well i always look at it and laugh at their innocent. Naive. Or probably lack the understanding of denim. I don’t blame them but it can be quite disgusting to hear someone who don’t washes their clothes for 6 months (mine is 7 months).
Well i just washed my A.P.C just this morning and i’m pretty excited about the fading! Post some pictures of it soon !!

It’s mid autumn festival today and went around town to look for sleeping bag that can keep me warm. I have to say its pretty expensive. Well I’m pretty surprise that kids are still carrying lantern around cityhall especially esplanade area. Wads more surprising is that they are using those old school paper lantern that we use to burn play around with when we were young.
Here are some photos for the day after being hiatus for sometime. Nothing related to lantern at all haha.

Did you see a 13? This is a pretty interesting building. I don’t know if the owner of the hotel is superstitious but I believe “13″ is pretty taboo especially in Asia.

Today and tomorrow mark the end of the nation celebration of national day. It rained in the evening but nothing can stop me from shooting the fireworks with my 40D and I’ve bought the cable release for $72. Nothing is going to stop me from shooting.
